Literature Text
The days of youth have absconded
into the folds of forgotten memory.
Times when ignorance was bliss
Incompatible innocence - only temporary.
The chapters continue to write themselves,
never-ceasing in their progression.
Stars faded into broken shards
as age summoned its restriction.
Responsibility--
Tying down diamond-eyed children
into burdened and weary adults
where giggles with smiles are hidden.
The days of youth have long departed
where may have abused the tender-hearted.
The beauty of youth had a hiccup
when we believed we wanted to grow up.

The Story of Girls and Boys
See that girl?
She made him smile on his worst days,
She stayed up to talk to him every night.
He made mistakes but she forgave him always,
He ignored her - he knew that wasn't right.
He didn't care, took her love for granted;
He expected her to always just be there.
She liked him but she wasn't what he wanted,
He dated other girls, she tried not to care.
Finally, she left, didn't want to wait forever
She found a better guy who liked her too.
This guy saw her potential, he adored her;
His intentions with her were honest and true.
Seeing them together made him realize something:
Without her, he was stuck in a lonely world.

As kids
The grown-ups would ask, when I was a kid,
What do you want to be when you get big?
We were doctors and lawyers and superheroes!
All said cheerily through mouthfuls of cheerios.
Replies would be long, replies would be short.
"I want to be everything!", I said, with thought.
The bliss of childhood, I'll never forget.
Not once would a decision be filled with regret.
As we grew older, we knew were fooled.
The innocent friend that we called life,
Had an envious twin known as strife.
Ah well break's over, so back to work I go,
As dull as it is; to this day I'll still be reminiscing,
About a past much more exciting.

Only When I Write
The drama unfurling in my life
Feels like the shadow of my hand
That grows as it comes ever closer
To the light perched on my bed stand
In that I can feel the darkest cloud
Ever such a menacing sight
In time I can reverse the feeling
But only when I write
Seclusion left me with nothing
Apart from creativity
Loneliness it turns out, my friends
Is quite the aperitif
For the feast that is awaiting me
If I make it through the night
Tomorrow always brings me new hope
But only when I write
You approach me on a good day
And I will offer you a smile
The same expression on the worst days
Because my manners are so mild
But don’t take me for a t

This was my homework for my English class. We were to write a elegy about something that is gone and we miss. I took a deeper tone and wrote about this.
I keep changing a word here and there, I am quite paranoid about my first English assignment.

Beautiful and sad, those hiccups. I'd like to think we can still find Never Land. ^^
